Figure Drawing Class at BCC - Fall 2005

For the first time I'm taking a class in figure drawing and have been to the first session. It was the first time I worked with a live model. I'd never tried to capture so much in so little time. We started the class with a series of 2-minute poses focusing on gesture drawing. Capture as much as possible in as little time as possible. Then we worked with half a dozen 20-minute poses. None of them were poses that I would have chosen to draw if I were looking at a series of photos. My angle was way off to one side of the class with a strong backlight. But here is a sample of what I came up with in that first class. Not every page photographed well enough to post. These were done on 24" newsprint with vine charcoal.
